wow i remeber back in 1964 i was listening to some music. Then in 1975 i heard the same song again! True story. Anyway the point i want to make is in 2005 i heard this Riu character for the first time, then in 2007 I saw him in the street. A policmen said i was crazy but am i crazy? i murdered that man and feel no regret but sometimes i cry at night. Moral of the story is, and a qoute a wise old man; 'practice makes perfect. I did know the melody but I did not know it is from Shostakovich. He normally did not write such a popular melodies but I love it.

@ladyinred1100 I don't mind. I can simply go to a night club where they definitely don't have classical music and thousands of other things. Last remark: there's music for people with good taste and there's music for people with bad taste...

Classical music used to be just for an elite, the socially superior part of society but Rieu makes this music accessible for everyone. And I can see the happiness in the face of those in the concert and not the grave, humorless and unsmiling faces in other concerts. Thanks Andre!

@TheFallenAngel14 You are right, he makes people have fun. But true art is never about having fun, but about thinking and analyzing. People go to museums not to have fun, people watch paintings not to have fun, people read classical literature not to have fun. The thing is that in the past 50 years the meaning of music has been diminished, that's why most of the people think that music is only for entertinment. Maybe he is not understanding the Shostakovich by making a vulgar tune or whatever you said there (I'm not good at music), but the thing is that he manages to make people have a great time. People don't care if he plays it correctly or not. They want to have fun and André Rieu offers them a high quality entertainment. I can see in this video old and young people dancing, laughing. He takes away the grave feeling from the opera and that's the best part.
